Soon-Wai Wong
Soon-Wai Wong is a self-taught artist working in ink and mixed media to create frenetic architectural drawings. Wong and his father have traveled extensively through Europe and Asia, and he utilizes his own travel photos for reference images. He began his studio practice over a decade ago by creating small illustrations of his favorite subjects: classic cars and cityscapes. When he decided to focus his drawings on the personal subject of his travels, his work began to grow in both complexity and scale. Wong has created his own methods for observing perspective, using rulers and ink to create layered, energetic linework, with people in positions of transience, moving in an out of focus.
