Joah Bingert

Joah Bingert is a mixed media artist with a primary focus on fiber art. Drawing from his upbringing in East Tennessee and his perspective as a trans, queer, and AuDHD individual, Joah examines the relationship between self, environment, and material. His work is rooted in the exploration of texture and the combination of traditional techniques with unconventional methods to create dense, tactile layers.

Joah’s practice ranges from mixed textile collages of animals to pieces that navigate themes of mental health, disability, and belonging. By incorporating poetry into his work, he explores the intersections of identity, chronic pain, and the weight of depression.
