Eye to Eye
Eye to Eye is the annual exhibition from Fresh Eye Arts where artists with and without disabilities are partnered to create original art. Over a two-three month long collaboration period, artists work together to develop an original collaboration practice. A public exhibit and reception celebrates the completed work. This show is the nexus of our core values of community engagement and fostering artistic excellence: Eye to Eye gives artists from the wider community a chance to deeply engage with their disabled peers, experience radical inclusivity first hand, and appreciate the creative talents of artists with disabilities.
Curation
Fresh Eye Artists are stepping into the curatorial role, sharing their original exhibitions with the community! In 2023, Jessica Williams curated Bona Fide at Fresh Eye Gallery. Marissa Wegner curated Wild & Tame, which showcased art of animals and was shown in conjunction with the 2024 annual holiday market Yulemart. Other Fresh Eye Artists have curated shows at our Saint Paul studio, and elsewhere in the community.
Artist Talks
Over the last few years, more than 20 artists from the community have shared their talent and stories with Fresh Eye Artists by giving talks in our studios. These opportunities help foster stronger connections with the greater Twin Cities Arts community, and give visiting artists a chance to learn more about our studio program up close. Some artists that have shared with us include Shannon Twohy, Ivonne Yanez, and Alanna Stapleton.
Community Partners
We are so grateful to be part of a vibrant artistic community! Many individuals and organizations have contributed their talent and time to Fresh Eye, and we look forward to making and maintaining our connections. Some of our community partners include the Textile Center, Cow Tipping Press, Open Streets Minneapolis, Clay Squared, Mosaic on a Stick, Twin Cities Collage Collective, Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center, Kairos Alive!, COMPAS, Upstream Arts, and more. Thank you!
