Exhibition Statement
So Free: A Fresh Eye Arts Exhibition is a group show featuring the highly varied work of eight artists. Over 40 works will be showcased, mediums include drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media. The title, So Free, was selected by participating artist Nate Woodard. Nate often explores the themes of spirituality, anxiety, and catharsis in his work. So Free represents the rare sense of autonomy artists experience during the process of making their art, as well as the many forms the completed work embodies. The act of raw creativity is powerful and imbues the artist with a fleeting, palpable freedom that can’t be recreated in any other aspect of life.
So Free includes abstract works including colorful geometric constructs by Lynda Mullan, expressive linework by Lena Osman, and the playful brushstrokes of artist Dan Stallsworth. The show’s representational work is comprised of illustrative animal portraits of Dylan Rogers, graphite works of Josh Selvig, screen printed heart hybrids by Jessica Williams, realistic architectural works by Soon-Wai Wong, and the metaphysical creations of Nate Woodard.
